Hi, friend! Thanks for checking out our website. I’m Abigail Austin, founder of Wholesome Diaper Co. and mama to two darling little boys. My husband and I have lived in Milwaukee for three years now. With every passing year it feels more like home. I now get asked about my accent whenever I visit family in the south, call the lakefront "the beach", and eat custard in the dead of winter. Settling in all right or no?

When my husband and I found out we were pregnant, one of the first things I knew was that I definitely wanted to cloth diaper. I knew that it was much better for the environment, healthier for my baby's skin, and a cost effective way of diapering so it was an easy decision for me. That is, until I found out I was having twins. 😳 I think my exact words were, “Sorry Mother Nature, but I know my limits.” So disposables it was. I felt better about it by promising to cloth diaper my next baby (provided there’d be just one, of course).

Fast forward a bit... and when a friend mentioned cloth diapering services the world instantly became a brighter place. I had no idea such a thing existed. Had I known about it, I would totally have gone that route with my twins and was very interested in using one for my next baby too (Not yet, you guys, I just plan very far ahead!).

To my disappointment, I discovered that there wasn't a cloth diapering service in the Milwaukee area. I knew there had to be other parents in the same situation as myself, wanting to care for our babies in a way that doesn't leave trash on our beautiful planet for twice as long as America has been a nation. But seriously, how are we going to squeeze extra laundry onto our already overflowing plates?

The old adage came true, that necessity is the mother of invention, and I decided to jump right in. I spent months researching, talking to both parents and industry professionals, and fine-tuning the details. Drawing upon my entrepreneurial business background and ten years experience in customer service, I decided to make sure our community had this service available.

As parents, we’re all in the same boat. We want to diaper our babies with something effective at keeping those leaks in, healthy for their skin, good for the environment, trim on our wallet, and convenient for our active family life. I’m passionate about cloth diapering being the leader in each one of those categories.

As I experienced with my twins, the main hindrance to many families choosing to cloth diaper is the extra (and gross!) work it entails. Washing your own diapers just doesn’t work for every family... but with a diapering service on hand that can help you cloth diaper for a comparable price to disposables and just as convenient, we can choose the best option for our babies and the world they'll grow up in.
